– and real options

You’re not alone. Many women in your shoes are overwhelmed, scared, or unsure what to do next. We’re here to help you understand your choices and protect your health—without pressure, judgment, or cost.

The abortion pill (also known as medication abortion or chemical abortion) is actually a series of two medications:

  • Mifepristone blocks the hormone progesterone, which your body needs to continue a pregnancy.
  • Misoprostol is taken next and causes cramping and bleeding to empty the uterus.
This process is typically used in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. A follow-up visit is necessary to confirm the abortion is complete and to monitor your health.

Surgical abortion is a medical procedure done at an abortion clinic or hospital. The type of procedure depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy:

  • Aspiration (vacuum) abortion is typically performed between 6–13 weeks.
  • Dilation and evacuation (D&E) is used after 13 weeks and involves dilation, suction, and surgical instruments.

Both procedures carry medical and emotional risks. If you’re considering a surgical abortion, you deserve to fully understand what’s involved before making a decision.

Potential Risks of the Abortion Pill:
  • Heavy bleeding or incomplete abortion
  • Severe cramping, nausea, or vomiting
  • Possible infection or fever
  • Risk of emergency surgery if incomplete
  • Rare but life-threatening complications

Note: The FDA statistics show that 10.93% of the women who take the abortion pill suffer from serious complications.

Potential Risks of Surgical Abortion:
  • Infection
  • Injury to the uterus or cervix
  • Hemorrhaging
  • Scar tissue formation (Asherman’s syndrome)
  • Future pregnancy complications
  • Emotional or psychological distress

Note: The further along in pregnancy you are, the greater the risks.
Yes. Before taking the abortion pill or scheduling a surgical abortion, it’s important to:
  • Confirm the pregnancy is located in the uterus (to rule out ectopic pregnancy)
  • Determine how far along you are
  • Check for a natural miscarriage
  • Identify any health concerns that could make abortion riskier

Ordering Abortion Pills Online?

Please Be Cautious

Some women consider ordering abortion pills online due to convenience, privacy, or cost. But this comes with serious risks.

Pills sold online are not always FDA-approved and could be:

– Counterfeit or expired
– Incorrectly dosed
– Lacking safety instructions
– Dangerous without medical supervision

Without a provider, you may not recognize signs of infection or incomplete abortion. You deserve safe, in-person medical care—not guesswork.

Changed Your Mind After Taking the First Pill?

Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) May Be an Option

If you’ve taken the first pill (mifepristone) and regret your decision, you may still have time to reverse it.

Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) is a treatment using progesterone, the natural hormone your body needs to sustain a pregnancy. When started quickly, it can be 64–68% effective.

The sooner you act, the better your chances. We’re here to help.
